Nova Leap Health ($NLH) Brief
Nova Leap Home Health is an operational compounder scaling across the fragmented, multi-billion-dollar North American home healthcare and community care market. While technically a Canadian-listed entity (trading on the TSXV under NLH), the company manages cross-border operations delivering non-medical and personal care across the US and Canada.
To add precision, Nova Leap Health Corp. operates across 10 US states as well as Nova Scotia, Canada. Its geographical presence covers key markets across four main regions in the US:
Canadian Operations: Nova Scotia (where corporate headquarters are located in Halifax).
New England Region: Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
South Central / Southwestern Region: Texas and Oklahoma.
Midwest / Central Region: Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky.
Southeastern Region: Florida.
Unlike capex-intensive healthcare providers burdened by heavy real estate footprints or complex hospital bureaucracy, Nova Leap operates a decentralized, hyper-local agency model.
They act as the architects of home-based care, filling the gap between hospital discharge and long-term independent living for an aging population.
Operational Overview
Nova Leap focuses on localized (sensitive and very personal) services designed to keep seniors safe, independent, and comfortably in their own homes:
Core Personal & Dementia Care: Through its network of local agencies, Nova Leap provides essential personal care, specialized dementia care, companion services, and palliative care. By maintaining 10-15-year operational legacies and referral networks when acquiring agencies, they capture strong local market share while keeping client acquisition costs low.
Emerging Care Management & Specialized Services: Launched as a dedicated division in early 2026, Nova Leap’s Care Management offering acts as a new organic growth engine. These high-touch (personalized and 1-on-1) services expand the continuum of care, pairing professional care coordination with core home care services to drive deeper client engagement.
De Novo & Cluster Expansion Strategy: Alongside accretive M&A, Nova Leap selectively executes “De Novo” (from scratch) locations in high-density territories.
Recent Financials & Operational Execution
Nova Leap spent recent years reinvesting heavily into agency-level personnel and digital marketing, shifting the business into a high-leverage phase where expanding scale converts directly into the operating cash flows we see today:
Record Scale & Inflection Point (Q2 2026): Consolidated quarterly revenue hit a record $9.39m (+17.1% YoY), driven primarily by organic billable hour growth across regional agencies. Trailing twelve-month (TTM) revenue reached a historic peak of $33.6m.
Expanding Margin Leverage: Adjusted EBITDA surged 65.2% YoY in Q2 2026 to $954.8k, crossing the 10% Adjusted EBITDA margin threshold for the first time in company history. Income from operating activities more than doubled (+115.4% YoY) to $754.7k, while Net Income turned strongly positive at $650k (a dramatic reversal from a -$484k loss in Q2 2025).
Disciplined M&A & Capital Structure: In May 2026, Nova Leap acquired Nova Scotia-based Parkwood Home Care for CAD $3.5m. Management preserves strict valuation discipline by acquiring targets at 3x-5x EBITDA, funding deals with a conservative mix of cash on hand, seller promissory notes, and low-cost credit facilities. Leverage remains comfortable at 1.36x TTM Adjusted EBITDA against a self-imposed 3.0x ceiling.
Insider Alignment: Management and directors hold 42.58% of common shares, creating extreme alignment with shareholders and reinforcing a policy of smart capital preservation, equity scarcity, and long-term compounding over unnecessary stock issuances. Despite the high ownership rates, insiders have historically acquired share to increase their stakes even more.
